Obviously, being able to hail a taxi on demand from my phone is a good idea.
But the team at Uber spent years tweaking their business model and figuring out ways to get other people to agree with that.
First, you have to open your eyes to notice the problem – and see a possible solution that doesn’t exist yet. Getting good (just at that) takes years of practice.
Then, you must have the tenacity to champion that solution and bring it to bear, no matter what gets in your way. This probably takes years as well.
The result is always obvious, but the effort required to arrive there never is.
