Yes, I take the same train to & from the same office every day, just like you.
But that doesn’t mean that I do the same things every day, or while I’m coming and going.
I certainly have plenty of daily tasks to complete.
I’m pretty sure that even if we worked at some mythical, fancy, progressive office like Google, we would too. They don’t just play ping pong there.
Tasks come with the territory of work. But I promise you, the business that you work for was not created with the intention of being run by robots.
Deep down, your boss wants you to over deliver. He or she wants you to make something new happen and help the company grow.
You might not get the credit for it – and that’s OK, for 2 reasons:
1) Your boss will know that they need you to succeed.
… and, more importantly:
2) You will feel like you did something different today.
